Metro East Racing Club
Rules and Scoring

RULES

1.                 Owners will select 3 drivers for a race.  A driver will only be able to be used by an owner 5 times in one year.  That means that an owner will use a minimum of 24 different drivers for the entire 36 races.  This is to prevent an owner of taking J. Johnson, D. Earnhardt Jr., and J. Gordon for every race.  This rule forces owners to follow other drivers in NASCAR.  Officials will not inform you if you have picked a driver for more than 5 times.  You must track this yourself.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Officials will be keeping records of the drivers that have been chosen and if it is found that an owner has used a driver beyond the limit of 5 times then you will score 0 for that driver in the race he was selected for.  We want everyone to pick their favorite drivers but also want everyone to become familiar with other drivers in NASCAR.

2.                 You will also receive 3, 2 or 1 point(s) for every position your driver advances from his starting position. Drivers starting in the 1st through 15th position will receive 3 points per spot, 16th to 30th will receive 2 and any driver starting 31st or worse will receive 1 point per spot advanced. For example, if one of your drivers starts in the 30th position and finishes 20th then you will receive an extra 20 points (10 positions times 2 points equals 20). If he starts 31st and finishes 20th you will receive extra 11 points (11 positions times 1 point equals 11). This scoring will be included for all 3 off your drivers.

If a driver wins from the pole the driver will receive 150 points.
If your driver starts 2nd, 3rd, or 4th and wins the race, he will receive 125pts.

3.                 Driver changes must be called in by 8:00pm or emailed no later than Midnight on the Tuesday night prior to that event.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Emails are date stamped and those dated after the cutoff will not be accepted. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. You may call your changes in to any one of the three officials.  If you do not call your changes in then you will receive the same 3 drivers that you had in the previous race.  A violation will occur if one or more of those drivers that carried over causes that driver(s) to be taken beyond the limit of 5 times.

4.                 If a driver you selected fails to start that race you will receive 0 points for that driver.  If a driver you have selected fails to qualify for the race or does not make the race if qualifying is rained out, you will receive 0 points for that driver. If one of your 3 selected drivers is relieved once the race has started you will still receive points for that driver. If you picked a driver that subs for another driver and he/she is credited with NASCAR points then you will receive points for that driver.

5.                 If the 3 drivers you select finish 1-2-3 in the race you will receive an additional 50-point bonus.

6.                 Results of the race will be tabulated using NASCAR.COM official results after they have been posted on the web site.  If any penalties result in loss of position for your driver in days following race, than scores will be re-calculated using the official results.

If your driver is penalized and all of his points are taken away for that race, you will score ½ your original points for his ending position and points for positions advanced will be 0.  If it is a monetary fine, then all points stand as in the rule above.

7.                 Drivers will be scored for positions advanced using NASCAR.COM lineup. Missed drivers meeting or starting a backup car in rear of field will not change your drivers starting position. If your driver qualifies and then is penalized and is delegated by NASCAR to a provisional starting spot then the driver will be scored from the provisional spot. NASCAR scores this way for all contingency awards.

9.                 The cost for each returning team owner will be $100 for the entire 36 points races.  Rookie owners will be charged $110.  The extra $10 that is collected from all rookie owners will be added together and divided evenly as follows:  One half of the money will be added to the total that determines weekly and year end payouts.  The other half will be paid out at the end of the year to the rookie of the year.  That is the new owner that finishes highest in the championship points.  Administrative fees will be taken out for such things as paper, envelopes, postage, checks and any copies that need to be made.  All other money will be returned to the prize fund.  Officials will not be getting paid.

10.             For positions two and up, if there is a tie for points in the top money winners at the end of the year, then the money will be split between those that are tied. If there is a tie for 1st place then the tiebreakers are as follows:

a.      Number of weekly wins

b.     Top point total for any given week

c.     Second highest point total for a week  etc….

11.             After February 6th, 2010, no money will be refunded.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
